New Delhi, January 27 : The Delhi MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa has strongly opposed decision of installing a portrait of Tipu Sultan in premises of Delhi Assembly by AAP government and said that he was a tyrant ruler who forcefully converted people according to his wish.
In a statement released here today, Sirsa said that Tipu Sultan had himself admitted that he had got 400 thousand hindus converted as muslims. He said that it was most illogical decision of the AAP government to get a portrait of such a communal person put up in the assembly.
Lashing out at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the decision Sirsa reminded him that we are in a democratic set up where only secularism prevails. He said that this decision is most illogical decision of the AAP which gives a wrong message to the nation.
Sirsa urged the assembly speaker to immediately order removal of such portrait or otherwise he will be forced to remove it. He also urged the CM to stop playing with the sentiments of the people.
The Delhi MLA also suggested to the Chief Minister that it wants to put portrait of great man then portrait of Jassa Singh Ahluwalia first conqueror of the Delhi should be put up their. He said that Jassa Singh Ahluwalia fought the Mughal emperor and emerged victorious which was first victory over the Mughals. He also said that not only this victory but Jassa Singh Ahluwalia had also saved 2200 Indian women being taken to Afghanistan for slavery by Ahmed Shah Abdali.
