Chandigarh: Union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today flagged off a new train from Nanded to Jammu at Nanded which will go a long way in facilitating pilgrims visiting Sri Hazur Sahib as well as those going to Mata Vaishno Devi in Jammu and various other shrines like Sri Hemkunt Sahib, Haridwar, Badrinath and Kedarnath in Uttarakhand.
Mrs Harsimarat Badal, who was accompanied by Shiromani Committee President Gobind Singh Longowal, Takth Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib Chairman Tara Singh and Manjit GK and Manjinder Sirsa from Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), thanked Union railways minister Piyush Goyal for acceding to her request to start this new train after the management of Sri Hazur Sahib made a plea to her in this regard. She said the Takth management said pilgrims were facing difficulty in visiting Sri Hazur Sahib as well as Mata Vaishnoo Devi due to lack of a direct train link between Jammu and Nanded. She said similarly pilgrims from Maharashtra were also finding it difficult to visit various shrines in Uttarakhand including Sri Hemkunt Sahib, Haridwar, Badrinath and Kedarnath.
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK and Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa while thanking Mrs Badal for her stellar role in connecting Nanded and Jammu which had special significance for both the Sikh and Hindu communities, said this connection would be a boon for elderly citizens and ensure easy and hassle free travel for pilgrims.
