New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party will file a fresh petition against the disqualification of its 20 MLAs in the Delhi high court on Tuesday. The party on Monday withdrew from the Delhi high court its plea for a stay on the Election Commission’s recommendation seeking disqualification of 20 MLAs. The plea was moved on Friday on the basis of media reports that the EC had recommended to the president the disqualification of its 20 MLAs for holding offices of profit.
“Since President Ram Nath Kovind has accepted the EC recommendation and issued a notification disqualifying the MLAs. The plea filed on Friday had become infructuous,” said an AAP functionary. The axed MLAs include Alka Lamba, Adarsh Shastri, Sanjeev Jha, Rajesh Gupta, Kailash Gehlot, Vijendra Garg, Praveen Kumar, Sharad Kumar, Madan Lal Khufiya, Shiv Charan Goyal, Sarita Singh, Naresh Yadav, Rajesh Rishi, Anil Kumar, Som Dutt, Avtar Singh, Sukhvir Singh Dala, Manoj Kumar and Nitin Tyagi.
