Jalandhar, December 16: Bhartiya Janta Party on Saturday holds a protest march against Congress against the case registered on BJP leaders in Basti Bawa Khel police station. The march was a violation of electoral code of conduct but no action was taken against them by the administration. Police booked nine BJP leaders on Thursday, including Jalandhar district president Ramesh Sharma, BJP candidate from Ward 78 Ravi Mahendru and Mohinder Bhagat, under non-cognisable and non-bailable offenses for allegedly causing public mischief outside the Basti Bawa Khel police station on Wednesday night.
The march started from the company Bag Chowk to the DC office. Where BJP leaders wanted to give their arrest, but despite non-bailable arrests, they were not arrested. They submitted a demand letter to DC Varinder Sharma and demanded the replacement of Police Commissioner Praveen Kumar Sinha. At the same time, they urged DC that he should take the command of the police. The leaders demanded the withdrawal of police case registered against BJP leaders.
District President Ramesh Sharma, Amit Taneja, Anil Sachar, Robin Sampla, Sheetal Angural, Rajan Angural, Devinder Bharadwaj, RK Bhalla, Raman Pabby, Pradeep Khullar, Rakesh Sandhund and other leaders were present.
