Jalandhar, December 15(Parteek Singh): Despite the fact that residents have been facing several problems due to lack of basic facilities, candidates in the MC polls were busy playing the blame game. The whole poll campaign was about blaming each other. Instead of discussing urgent issues like lack of potable water, poor sewerage, pathetic condition of roads and other basic facilities, the candidates have taken to blaming each other in the election campaign. The residents are demanding desilting of sewerage lines, paving of roads and regular availability of potable water from the contesting candidates, but the latter are more concerned in targeting their opponents.
Even the star campaigners and senior leaders of SAD-BJP and the Congress have not turned up for the campaign. The candidates were left to fend for themselves. The development was not the issue raised by any candidate during the campaign. Congress candidates are seeking votes by blaming SAD-BJP for the poor development in the city and lack of civic amenities of the city during the past 10 years. On the other hand, SAD-BJP is accusing Congress government of failing to fulfill even a single promise made in Vidhan Sabha elections earlier this year. The battle is mostly 10 years of SAD-BJP vs 8 months of Congress in civic polls.
