Vigilance nabs ASI in bribery case

Chandigarh, September 13: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 10000/-.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Avtar Singh posted at Police Station Shahkot in Jalandhar district was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Mangal Singh. The Complainant has approached the VB that the accused ASI was demanding Rs. 25000 not to implicate him in a criminal case. After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigations was under progress.
