New Delhi: A Hyderabad court on Tuesday convicted two of the accused seven Indian Mujahideen operatives in the 2007 twin bomb blast case, which killed 44 people and injured 68 in the city.
Aneeq Shafique Sayeed and Mohammed Akbar Ismail Chowdhari were convicted while two others were acquitted. Verdict on a fifth accused will be pronounced on Monday along with the quantum of sentence on the others, the court said.
The near simultaneous blasts on August 25, 2007 at the popular eatery Gokul Chat killed 32 people and left 47 injured, while 12 others died and 21 were injured at the open air theatre at Lumbini Park, a few metres away from the state secretariat.
Another unexploded bomb was found under a foot-over-bridge at Dilsuknagar area.
