New Delhi, December 11: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has reviewed progress of the ‘Namami Gange; programme and submitted its audit report for tabling in the winter session of Parliament along with five other appraisal reports. Four more CAG reports on direct and indirect taxes are likely to be ready before the session starts.
The NDA government has allocated Rs20,000crore for ‘rejuvenation of Ganga’ and set a target of five years (2015-2020) to complete works including new sewage treatment plants, river front development and renovation of bathing ghats and crematoria in different cities and towns.
