Chandigarh, December 22: Revised curricula of diploma courses in civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, Automobile engineering, and Information Technology with effect from 2018-19 has been approved today during the 38th meeting of “Academic Committee ” of Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training held here today under chairmanship of MP Singh, Chairman PSBTE & IT.
Revealing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training said that this curricula revision is being held after a gap of seven years in collaboration with NITTTR.
Disclosing salient features of these revised diploma courses, he said that the courses have been made National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) complaint. In fact, Punjab is the first state in the country to offer NSQF aligned diploma courses. The focus of these courses is on outcomes, learning outcomes have been spelled for programme(s) as well as various subjects related to programme (s).
He further added that the contents have been updated as per needs and expectations of the industry. Representatives from CII, NSDA, various industries, Sector Skill Councils and teachers from academic institutions have been involved in the curriculum contents. Emphasis has been laid on development of skills which will enable the diploma students to get gainful employment.
Spokesman informed that the implementations of the courses will be done by collaborating with related industries, skill centers and Sector Skill councils. “Various assesment tools will be used to check weather desired competencies and skills have been developed in students from time to time in studies”, he added.
