Jalandhar, January 12: Slamming the Akali-BJP alliance leadership for misleading the people, Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh today dared the Akali – BJP alliance to list even a single achievement of theirs during decade long misrule in the state.
Interacting with the media persons here during the release of a musical album- ‘Bindi’ by the singer Arjun Bhargav here today, the Minister said that the Akali-BJP leadership had every right to meet the Honorable Governor but before that they must peep into their conscience to find out their misdeeds. He dared the alliance leaders to list even a single achievement or contribution of their government to the state. Rana Gurjeet Singh categorically said that it was a fact that Akali-BJP government did nothing for the welfare of Punjab or its people.
The Minister said that the Congress government led by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed to expose all the misdeeds and wrong doings of the previous Akali-BJP government. He said that the government was not at all vindictive but the Akali-BJP leadership would have to pay price for their sins against Punjab and its people. Rana Gurjeet Singh said that these people who had put burden on people of state by turning cash credit limit worth Rs 30,000 crore into a state government loan, which was to be paid by tax payer’s money.
The Minister said that the alliance leaders had indulged in corruption while enjoying fruits of power. He said that wherever required third party audit of the works conducted during the rule of Akali-BJP alliance would also be conducted. Slamming the Akali leadership, Rana Gurjeet Singh said that Akalis raise the issues like danger to panth, Anandpur Sahib resolution, Article 25, River waters and others only when they were out of power. He asked the Akalis that why these issues were put at backburner when they were in power for ten years.
The Minister said that while Akali-BJP alliance did nothing for the Punjab, the Congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh has taken several path breaking initiatives in just a short span of less than a year. He said that the debt of farmers’ was being waived in a phased manner for which the process has already been initiated. Rana Gurjeet Singh said that in the first phase only small and marginal farmers with land holdings of 2.5 acre were being covered but gradually the benefit of this scheme would be given to every farmer who was eligible for it.
Similarly, Rana Gurjeet Singh said that power would be supplied to industrial units at Rs 5 per unit, very shortly. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has on Thursday issued formal orders to the Department of Power to bear the Rs 748 crore power subsidy for the industry for 2017-18, with variable cost to be fixed at Rs 5 per unit. Rana Gurjeet Singh said that this was just the beginning and every promise made to people would be fulfilled soon.
