Chandigarh, 16 August: The Punjab Truck Operators Union has withdrawn its call for proposed statewide strike on August 23. The announcement came in the wake of an assurance given by the state government to look into their demands. The truckers have been demanding that the government should revoke its decision of disbanding the truck unions in the state. In a separate development, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notice to the government on the plea filed by the truck operators union on the issue of restoring truck unions. The next date of hearing is fixed for September 18, 2017.
