Patiala, December 28(Wishav Warta): Three members have been nominated in the decision taking body syndicate of Punjabi University Patiala. Punjab chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh recommended three names and sent the file to Governor and Chancellor of University Dr. VP Singh Badnaur, After which the Raj Bhawan has issued a notification in this regard.
General Secretary of Patiala Media Club and Senior journalist Rajesh Sharma Panjola, Congress candidate from the constituency of Sanour and former information commissioner Harinderpal Singh Harry Maan and Major A P. Singh Nabha are among the race for being the member of Syndicate. The Syndicate is the supreme authority of Punjabi University. The three members of Syndicate are nominated by Punjab Government. During the Captain-led Congress government from 2002 to 2007, Maharani Preneet Kaur, Cabinet Minister Jasjit Singh Randhawa and then Deputy Speaker Bir Devinder Singh were members of Syndicate. In 2007 when Akali Dal formed the government, general secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal and Lok Sabha MP Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Chairman of the National Minorities Commission and Rajya Sabha MP Tarlochan Singh became members of Syndicate. Patiala Media club president Sarabjit Singh Bhangu and all the members thanked chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh for nominating a member from journalist community for Syndicate of Punjabi University.
