Jalandhar(Parteek Singh): On the first anniversary of the demonetization announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on eve of 8th November last year Congress celebrated it as black day all over the country, Congressmen today burned the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the call for celebrating the nationwide black day and marched in the city with black flags stating note ban one of the worst move of Modi government. All the four Congress MLAs from Jalandhar assemblies marched with black flags along with their supporters in their respective areas and burned the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Junior Avtar Henry (Bawa) MLA from Jalandhar North, blazed an effigy of Modi and protested against note ban at Doaba College Chowk. Henry said, “notebandi was a wrong move by BJP government as it made common people suffer and it will always be marked as the black day in the history of the country”. Government’s claims to get back black money go bogus when 99 percent of the cash flowed back into the banking system. In Jalandhar Cantt, MLA Pargat Singh near Regal Cinema of the Cantonment Blow effigy of Modi and protested against the central government last year decision along with his supporters.
Pargat Singh said people across the country stood in long ques for long hours which resulted in nothing, note ban has only created problems for common people.Rajendra Beri MLA from Jalandhar Central assembly along with his supporters protested against BJP government at Company Bagh chowk and Jalandhar West, Sushil Rinku, have also observed black day on the anniversary of demonetization at Babri Chowk in Jalandhar West assembly, all the Congress MLAs termed the ban a tragedy for the country. Last year 86 percent of the Indian currency was frozen after the note ban announcement by Prime Minister last year. 1000 and 500 notes were demonetised by the government to get back the black money.
