Dehradun: The two IAS officers accused in the Rs 300 crore NH-74 land acquisition scam in Udham Singh Nagar, Chandresh Yadav and Pankaj Pandey were suspended by the state government on Wednesday.
The SIT in its detailed report to the state government had revealed that in just 48 cases of land use change in back dates, the nexus of officers, middlemen and farmers resulted in a loss of Rs 207 crore to the public exchequer.
According to the SIT report, in 48 cases in six tehsils of the district, an excess compensation of Rs 206.9 crore was issued with the land use changed from arable to commercial in back dates. In Jaspur, 13 farmers were collectively paid additional compensation of Rs 96.2 crore, 11 farmers combined received an extra compensation Rs 69.5 crore in Kashipur tehsil, while 22 farmers in Bazpur tehsil were paid Rs 14.5 crore in excess, a farmer in Gadarpur managed to get Rs 2.3 crore excess compensation while in Rudrapur tehsil Rs 40 lakh was given in excess to a farmer. In Sitarganj tehsil, 12 farmers were compensated Rs 23.9 crore extra by the officials.
