The senior most judge of india, Justice Dipak Misra takes oath as 45th Chief Justice of India. President of India Ram Nath Kovind has administered oath of office to Justice Misra at Rashtra.
As CJI, Misra will hold office for the next 13 months, till 2 October 2018.
Dipak Misra, led the bench that awarded death sentence to Mumbai blast convict Yakub Memon and Nirbhaya case accused.Justice Misra has practised in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Revenue, Service and Sales Tax matters in the Orissa High Court and the Service Tribunal.
Justice Misra assumed charge of the office of Chief Justice, Patna High Court on December 23, 2009, and charge of the office of the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court on May 24, 2010. He was the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court before he was elevated as a Supreme Court judge in 2011.
