Jalandhar, 7 September(Wishav Warta): A mass protest was organized by journalists against the assailants of journalist Gauri Lankesh on the invitation of Punjab Press Club Jalandhar. The journalists, who had banners in their hands, demanded the arrest of the assailants and stringent punishment for Gauri Lankesh’s killers. Addressing journalists and photographers gathered at the press club complex, General Secretary of the Club Major Singh said that the attack on press freedom in our country is posing a serious challenge to the journalists. He said that the overflowing ideology of spreading intolerance in the country and overthrowing anti-ideology is not only for the press but for the entire society. He invited everyone to come forward to raise voice against this danger.
Senior journalist Krishan Lal Dhal also condemned the murder. Senior Vice President of the Club Mr. Mandeep Sharma, Vice President Rajesh Yogi, Cashier Shiv Sharma, Executive Member Rohit Sidhu, Ashwani Malhotra and Rachna Khaira, Madan Bhardwaj, Satnam Singh Chahal, Rajiv Bhaskar, Jaspal Singh, Munish Kumar, MS. Lohia, Rajesh Sharma, Amritpal Jangi. A large number of other media workers were present in the protest.
