Jalandhar, 6 September(Wishav Warta): The Press Club Jalandhar has condemned the killing of the firebrand journalist Gauri Lankesh who was brutally murdered yesterday at her home in Bengaluru after killers pumped seven bullets into her body. The 55 years old was Editor of Gauri lankesh Patrika. Today media persons gathered at press club to pay tribute to the slain journalist. General Secretary S. Major Singh said it was sad to hear that Gauri lankesh was shot dead, This is not the death of a journalist, but the death of democracy and constitutional values. She had raised her voice against communal violence as we know that is why her voice was silenced. We will stand against such act to suppress the voice of media and Press Club Jalandhar condemned such act. Major Singh announced that tomorrow a meeting will be held in press club followed by a march to Deputy Commissioner office where media will give a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar. During the meeting, a discussion was also done on the safety of the journalist for which government should make a policy. Later two minutes silence was kept to pay tribute to Gauri Lankesh by media persons.
