Jalandhar, 1 September(Wishav Warta): In a bid to ensure foolproof arrangements to facilitate people during the upcoming Sri Sidh Baba Sodal Fair, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today held an on the site review meeting at Sri Sidh Baba Sodal Temple to finalize the arrangements for this renowned fair.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajinder Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner Gurmeet Singh, the Deputy Commissioner held detailed parleys with the officers of the district administration to ensure that the pilgrims coming to this holy shrine for paying homage do not face any sort of inconvenience. He cautioned the officials that any sort of callousness in imparting duty during this fair would not be tolerated at any cost. Sharma said that this fair was an important event in the region and every effort must be made to ensure that pilgrims offer their prayers during the fair in a smooth and hassle free manner.
Taking part in deliberations, the Deputy Commissioner asked the General Manager of the Punjab Roadways to deploy Mini Buses from Railway Station, Bus Stand and other places to ferry the pilgrims to the shrine during the fair. He also asked the Public Works Department to ensure proper safety of the pilgrims by inspecting the stages and swings to be installed during the fair. Sharma also instructed the department to assist the Police in proper barricading of the temple premises so as to avoid any sort of chaos.
In order to ensure proper cleanliness around the temple premises, the Deputy Commissioner asked the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) to appoint Safai Sewaks round the clock in rotation. He said that proper cleanliness must be ensured in and around the temple by lifting the garbage on time. Sharma also asked the MCJ to sprinkle water on roads besides making adequate arrangements for supply of potable drinking water and installation of temporary public toilets.
Likewise, the Health department was asked to depute its teams along with ambulances permanently during the fair to impart Health services to people. The Deputy Commissioner also directed the PSPCL to ensure interrupted power during the fair by making adequate arrangements for power back up. Exhorting the people to participate in this fair with full religious gaiety and enthusiasm, Mr. Sharma assured fulsome support and cooperation to everyone coming at this sacred place.
