Jalandhar DC directs health department to be extra vigilant for tackling swine flu

Jalandhar, 23 August(Wishav Warta): Alarmed by the early onset of Swine flu in the district, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today asked the Health department to be extra vigilant for tackling the cases of this influenza in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the Officers of Health department to keep a stern vigil over the cases of this flu. He said that best treatment and diagnostic services must be made available to the people in wake of this influenza. Sharma said that this year it was an early onset of Swine flu in the country in general and Jalandhar in particular for which all need to be very careful in controlling the spread of this Flu.

The Deputy Commissioner said that in order to decrease mortality due to swine flu, it was important that patient of common flu reports early to medical facility and categorization is done. He asked the Health department to categories the patients coming with the problem of flu in Category A (simple flu), Category B (flu with high risk) and Category C (flu patients with serious complications). Sharma said that while there was no need of test for Category A and B but in case of Category C,  test needs to be done at the earliest and treatment should be given as soon as possible.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the officers of Health department to ensure that all hospitals should have Flu corners and isolation wards for early management of such cases. He also asked the officers to maintain sufficient stock of medicines (Tamiflu) and logistics in all the government hospitals of the district. Sharma directed the Health department to be extra cautious in dealing with this influenza.
