Chandigarh, December 23: Union food processing industry minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today thanked minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha for connection Amritsar with Nanded to facilitate pilgrims to pay obeisance at Sri Hazoor Sahib with a direct flight.
The direct flight, which starts today and will be run twice a week on weekends, follows a request in this regard made by Harsimrat on behalf of the ‘sikh sangat’.
Mrs Badal also thanked the civil aviation minister for connecting Amritsar with a direct flight to Mumbai, which also starts today. This flight will also run twice a week on weekends.
Thanking the civil aviation minister for giving these two new flights to the Amritsar international airport, which she said would help pilgrims as well as businessmen respectively, Harsimrat also appealed to Sinha to re-start direct international flight to Birmingham from Amritsar. She said there was a lot of demand from Punjabis as well as NRIs abroad to restart this flight which was re-routed through Delhi before being run as a direct flight. She said the direct flight to Birmingham would be a great help to NRIs wanting to visit Sri Harmandar Sahab as well as their near and dear ones in Punjab.
