AAP corners Captain govt on the issues of employees and the unemployed
Chandigarh, July 18 (wishavwarta):-The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab, while opposing the anti-employee decision of the state government to introduce central pay scales for new government employees, has demanded immediate withdrawal of its tall order, saying the Captain’s government’s so-called ‘ghar-ghar-naukri’ rhetoric stood exposed.
In a joint statement issued from party headquarters on Saturday, senior party leader and MLA Aman Arora and spokesperson MLA Meet Hayer, accused the Captain govt of being anti-employee, demanding that it should bring out a “white paper” on the issue of ‘ghar-ghar’ jobs given to the youth till date, a poll promise that the Congress party had peddled ahead of the 2017 assembly elections.
Arora said that the govt’s decision to implement Central Pay Scales in Punjab would mean a quantum cut on the salaries of the newly-recruited employees by 35 to 40 per cent, saying the move would prove fatal to government employees, which the Aam Aadmi Party would strongly oppose.
The AAP leader said that employees across Punjab were already forced to take to the streets to protest against the excesses, injustices and anti-employee policies being meted out to them under the highhandedness of the government in the saddle.
MLA Meet Hayer on the occasion said that the government should first issue a ‘white paper’ on how many jobs had been offered to the youth in Punjab so far under the much-hyped job in every household?
He said being an MLA, he had not come across a single youth, including boys and girls, who had landed a job under the scheme during the government’s three and a half years tenure, saying the government should come clean on the claims being made by it.
He accused the government of making mockery of the placement camps by private colleges, alleging the Captain’s Government had swindled crores of rupees from government exchequer. He said these placement camps had played a cruel joke with TET Pass, NET Pass, B.Tech, M.Tech and educated youth by offering them menial jobs in various private establishments.
Aman Arora and Meet Hayer said that if AAP formed the government in the state in 2022, it would not only restore the dignity of Punjab government employees but would also redefine what placement camps should be like.
