CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 28 (Wishav Warta) : The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore has congratulated the citizens of Chandigarh, Punjab and all sports lovers across India on National Sports Day. The day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Hockey Wizard, Major Dhyan Chand.
In a message issued on the eve of National Sports Day, the Governor expressed hope that there would be ample opportunities provided to the sports persons not only to participate extensively in sports activities but also bring laurels to the country. Adding further, he said that both Chandigarh Administration and Punjab government have separately created world-class infrastructure in different disciplines of sports. As a part of its programmes for giving fillip to sports activities, various Sports Academies have been set up in which the players are being imparted advanced training under the guidance of international coaches in popular sports disciplines.
“On National Sports Day I congratulate all sports lovers across India and hope sports and sportsmanship will always shine in our society” , the Governor said.
