Chandigarh: The Rural development and Panchayat Minister Punjab, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, today directed the officials of panchayat department to ensure the optimum utilization of the urban properties of the department to boost the income of the panchayat samities.
The minister also directed the officials to submit a detailed report of properties of the department lying vacant in the urban areas of the state within 15 days. He also asked the officials to implement the report to within a month so that the revenue of the department is increased which would be beneficial in carrying out more development works. He added that detailed information has also been sought form the Block Samities for the proper planning of development in their respective areas as per their fiscal condition.
Pancahyat minister issued the directions during a meeting with the officials of the department here at his office where the officials also presented a Power Point Presentation (PPT) of the detailed information of the urban properties of department.
Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa also asked the officials to initiate necessary action against the illegal encroachments upon the urban properties and the construction of boundary walls around the vacant properties to get rid of the illegal encroachments.
He added that the officials should prepare plan for the infrastructural development of the vacant properties of the panchayats and panchayat samitis to boost the income of these local governing bodies which should also ensure the timely payment of the salary of the employees. He also asked the officials to start the recruitment process in the financially sound local bodies to provide employment to the youth of Punjab.
Bajwa also cleared the projects prepared for vacant properties of Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Tarn Taran districts and asked the officials to immediately start the development projects on the proposed sites.
