Jalandhar, 6 September(Wishav Warta): In a bid to make the people aware against the fake agents duping them on name of financial incentives under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, the district administration has embarked a special awareness campaign by installing boards at the eminent public places in the district.
Under the campaign started on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma, the officers of the district administration had installed boards at prominent places like outside the district administrative complex, Post offices, Railway Station, Bus Stand and others to caution the people against the fake agents. These unscrupulous elements or agents that were trying to fleece the people on the name of filling forms for Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) to claim cash incentive of Rs. 2.00 lakh provided to girls.
Divulging the details of the campaign, the Deputy Commissioner said that the prime motive of this drive was to ensure that people do not fall prey to these elements who were trying to dupe them. He said that for this these boards were being installed in the district so that people could be cautioned about this. Sharma categorically said that no money transfers to individuals were possible in this as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme has no provision for individual cash component and it was not a DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the through this drive the district administration wants that innocent people should remain alert and not fall in the trap of these elements. He reiterated that stern action would be taken against such fraudulent agents who were duping the innocent people by collecting money from them under the garb of this scheme. Sharma urged the people that if they find anyone selling the form, the matter must immediately be brought to the notice of district administration and department’s official so that appropriate action could be taken against such anti social elements.
Meanwhile, District Program Officer Amarjeet Singh Bhullar said that apart from district headquarters these boards would also be installed at the Sub Division level.
