Jalandhar, 3 September(Wishav Warta): Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today called upon the needy people to drive maximum benefit from the two days special assessment camp for disabled people being organized by district administration on September 4-5 at Red Cross Bhawan.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this was a unique initiative of the district administration to provide a healing touch to the people with any sort of disability. He said that needy people must come forward and register themselves in these camps so that necessary assistance could be given to them. Sharma said that this camp was being organized under the Assistance to Disabled persons for purchasing/fitting of aids/appliances (ADIP)scheme of the Government of India (GoI).
The Deputy Commissioner said that a team of experts would check the people coming for the registration and assess the extent of disability of the people to prepare a report for distributing artificial limbs, hearing aids, wheel chair, Braile Cane to them free of cost. He said that after compiling the data of the needy beneficiaries a free distribution camp would also be organized to help the people suffering from any sort of physical disability. Sharma reiterated that those people who aspire to take benefit of this camp must produce residential certificate, disability certificate, proof of income along with photographs on the occasion.
