DC dismisses clerk absent from duty since long

Jalandhar, 23 August(Wishav Warta): Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma has dismissed a clerk in office of Tehsildar-II, for being absent from his
duty from a period of more than one year. As per the information, Kuldeep Singh posted as clerk in the office of Tehsildar-II was absent from his duty since September 29, 2008. A case number 288 was registered against the Clerk in Police Division Number 4 under section 302/ 34 of the Indian Penal Code on September 28, 2008. After the matter was brought into the notice of the then Deputy Commissioner, the Clerk was suspended.

After suspension from service the Headquarter of the Clerk was fixed at the office of the Assistant Commissioner (General). However, he never gave his attendance report. Likewise, even after restoration of service in September 9, 2009, the orders of which were sent to the employee through post, the employee never turned up for the service. Subsequently, the district administration made several attempts to deliver the orders of restoration of service to the clerk, but all in vain.

In wake of all these facts, the Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma while exercising the powers vested in him through clause 13 (2) of Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeals)  Rules 1970 has dismissed the Clerk  Kuldeep Singh from the
service.
