Jalandhar, 25 September(Wishav Warta): Tightening the noose around the willful defaulters of loans and taxes, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today asked the Revenue offices to initiate the proceedings of attaching the properties of affluent defaulters.
Chairing a meeting of the Revenue officers here at District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that recovery of pending loans and taxes must be the top priority of every government officer /official. He said that zero tolerance should be adopted towards those defaulters who were willfully not returning the loans or other pending recoveries towards them. Sharma said that this callousness on the part of the people was totally unwarranted and undesirable and deserves stern action on the part of government.
The Deputy Commissioner asked all the Revenue officers to identify such erring defaulters who were deliberately not repaying their loans or taxes due towards them. He said that besides identifying such erring personalities proceedings must be initiated to attach the properties of these defaulters as per the provisions of the law. Sharma said that people should not make mock of the system by not returning the taxpayer’s hard earned money.
The Deputy Commissioner said that every single penny of the public money must be recovered back from the defaulters by taking every possible action. He cautioned the officers that any laxity on their part in this work would not be tolerated at any cost.
