CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today remembered her mother late Rajmata Mohinder Kaur on her 3rd death anniversary. She passed away on July 24, 2017 at the age of 96. Capt Amarinder Singh has posted a photograph of her teenage days with her mother and an emotional note on his official facebook page to pay tribute to her mother.
Capt Amarinder writes, “My late mother has been a great source of inspiration since childhood.I vividly recall the work she did for the Punjabi refugees during Partition. Today on her death anniversary, I remember her for all he unconditional love and the values she instilled in me”.
Capt Amarinder Singh also writes same note in Punjabi and explained how her mother had taught him to dedicate life for society.
“ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਣਾਸ੍ਰੋਤ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਯਾਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ-ਪਾਕਿ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਸਮੇਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਰਿਫਿਊਜੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣੇ ਸਨ। ਅੱਜ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਸੀ ਮੌਕੇ ਮੈਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਸੀਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚਣ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਬੀਜ ਬੋਇਆ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਕਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ।”
Maharani Mphinder Kaur wife of the late Maharaja of Patiala, Yadavindra Singh, was born in Ludhiana (undivided Punjab), to Harchand Singh Jaijee, a nobleman of Patiala State and a member of the Patiala Riyasat Praja Mandal (Patiala State Peoples’ Forum, an affiliate of the Indian National Congress).
A former member of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Kaur had been actively involved in several political, social and other philanthropic activities.
