Chandigarh, 24 August(Wishav Warta): The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asserted an attempt was being made to destabilize Punjab by creating religious tension within the Sikh community by modern day Massarangarh Partap Singh Bajwa, even as it said the Congress leader alone would be responsible if the fight for restoring the ‘maryada’ of Chhota Ghallughara Sahib gurdwara at Kahnuwan spiraled out of control.
Holding Bajwa squarely responsible for hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh Sangat and protecting those who had indulged in immoral activities in the gurdwara premises, SAD general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia and other senior leaders including Sewa Singh Sekhwan and Suchha Singh Langah said the SAD would soon release an agitation programme to ensure all those who had indulged in immoral acts and well as those who had disturbed the “paschyatap” akhand path were brought to book.
Asserting that communal passions were now being inflamed in the same manner as done earlier before the start of militancy by Congress elements,Majithia said the SAD would not let this conspiracy succeed at any costs. “We have deferred out action plan till August 28 since Sri Akal Takth Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh ji has summoned the Chhota Ghallughara gurdwara management on that day to explain its stand after management committee general secretary, treasurer and granthi Buta Singh was caught in a compromising position with a woman in the gurdwara premises on August 11”. He said the SAD meeting of August 25 on this issue also stood deferred.
Stating that a comprehensive action plan would be charted out if the issue was not resolved by August 28 under the leadership of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, the Akali leader also rebutted allegations that it wanted to take over the management of the gurdwara. “We only want the exit of dusht Massarangarhs and management of the Gurdwara by the Sikh Sangat”, he added.
Giving details, Majithia said it was unfortunate that Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa had tried to give shelter to those accused of immoral activities in the gurdwara premises and that their arrest had also been delayed. He said when the Sikh Sangat protested against this gross violation of maryada including entry into the Shaheedi Gurdwara with shoes, the police machinery was used to prevent the Sri Akal Takth jathedar from entering the gurdwara premises. He said still later repentance ‘path’ being held continuously in the gurdwara was disturbed.
The Akali leaders meanwhile asked all Massrangarhs including their gang leader Partap Bajwa to honor the wishes of the Sikh Sangat and not try to protect those who had defiled the holy shrine. He said it was for the government to investigate why this was being done deliberately to defame chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and the Congress government. He said earlier Punjab had paid a heavy price for the fued between Congress leaders Darbara Singh and Giani Zail Singh. “The same script is being played again. The government should put an end to it before it does irreversible harm to Punjab”, he added.
