Bengaluru: Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy won a vote of confidence in the assembly for his three-day old Congress-JD(S) coalition government.
Kumaraswamy won with 117 votes after he moved the one-line motion following the unanimous election of Congress MLA Ramesh Kumar as Speaker.
BJP lawmakers however walked out of the assembly before the trust vote was conducted. BS Yeddyurappa, who was named leader of opposition, threatened the government with a state-wide stir if farm loan waivers were not waived by Monday, leading to the walk out.
BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa, who was sworn in as the chief minister on May 17, resigned two days later just ahead of a floor test as the national party has 104 MLAs.
