New Delhi, December 19: The Shiromani Akali Dal Spokesman Manjinder Singh Sirsa today thanked the SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal for taking up issue of renaming of Dyal Singh College with the central government and thanked the government for directing the Delhi University not to rename Dyal Singh College.
In a statement issued here today, Sirsa said the SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal had written letter to Prime Minister on the issue whereas Harsimrat Kaur Badal has written to HRD Minister Prakash Javedkar and today Naresh Gujaral had taken up this issue in Rajya Sabha. He said the categorical statement of the HRD Minister Prakash Javedkar on the issue in Rajya Sabha had come as a major relief to all justice loving people.
Sirsa said renaming of the college was not an issue but the real issue was erasing of the legacy of a man who used his personal fortunes for the sake of the nation. He said Dyal Singh Majithia was a true reformer, a social activist and noble man with a great vision for the future of the country. He said this decision to establish educational institutions, opening up of the first bank of the country and establishment of newspaper had contributed a lot for the development and progress of the country.
Sirsa said he was personally thankful to Mr. and Mrs. Badal as well as Naresh Gujaral to take up this issue and also thankful to the central government particularly HRD Minister Prakash Javedkar who had taken a swift decision on the issue and had prevented erasing of legacy of a great National figure. He said this decision of the Centre would go a long way in restoration of faith of justice loving people in the system and would also prevent such misadventures and mischiefs in future.
The SAD Spokesman also thanked all media groups who helped to make this issue a people’s movement and also expressed gratitude to eminent columnist and national figure Kuldip Nayyar and all others who contributed for resolving this issue. He said that latest statement of the HRD Minister Praskash Javedkar on the issue had also boosted confidence of the those people in India and abroad who always work for achieving justice on different issues.
