40,000 farmers to be covered under second phase of farm debt waiver on March 14 at Nakodar

Jalandhar: Additional Chief Secretaries of Punjab government DP Reddy and Vishwajeet Khanna today reviewed the preparations for the function in which Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would distribute the certificates for loan waiver under farm debt waiver scheme to around 40,000 farmers on March 14.

The Additional Chief Secretary (Cooperation) DP Reddy and Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Vishwajeet Khanna held marathon discussions with the officers of the district administration regarding the function, which farmers from six districts of the state would take part. They said that during this function the Chief Minister would give big relief to debt ridden farmers of six districts including Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Moga, Ludhiana, Ferozepur and Fazilka. Both the officers said that meticulous planning must be done for smooth execution of the event.

The senior Officers also inspected the site where pandal for this mega event would be erected. They also enquired about the traffic plan prepared by the Jalandhar Rural Police for hassle free movement of traffic. The officers said that flawless arrangements would be made for this major pro-farmer event in the state.

Taking part in deliberations, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the district administration was already making strenuous efforts for conducting this mega event. He said that the officers/ officials of the district administration have been assigned various duties in this regard. Sharma assured both the officers that elaborate arrangements would be made by the district administration to make this event a huge success.
