Chandigarh: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption today nabbed an Assistant Lineman of PSPCL posted at Attari Feeder, Ferozepur district red handed accepting bribe.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Assistant Lineman Prem Singh was arrested by a vigilance team while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from complainant Gulzar Singh of village Katora in Ferozepur district to restore his domestic power supply which was disconnected due to non-payment of bill.
Giving details he said after verifying her complaint, the VB team laid a trap and the accused officer was arrested on the spot and Rs. 5,000 was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
