Chandigarh: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an assistant lineman of PSPCL red handed and registered a bribery case against a medical officer and ward servant of civil hospital Ferozepur city.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Amrik Singh assistant lineman posted at PSPCL office Saraibanjara was nabbed on the complaint of Baldev Singh of village Khera in Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above lineman was demanding Rs. 7000/- to replace an electricity pole damaged due to powerful wind on his land.
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the lineman was nabbed on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.7,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In another bribery case Vigilance Bureau had registered a bribery case against medical officer Dr. Varun Kumar and ward attendant Jagsir Singh, both posted at Civil Hospital, Ferozepur city. In this case complaint Karaj Singh of village Rukna Begu in Ferozepur district has approached the VB and alleged that the above said accused ward servant was demanding Rs. 10,000 on behalf of Dr. Varun for issuing a favorable medico legal report. It may be mentioned here that the accused ward servant had already fixed a deal with the accused medical officer for sharing the bribe in this case.
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the ward servant nabbed on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses but the accused ran away from the spot while he was being taken to hospital ward to hand over the bribed amount to doctor Varun Kumar.
He informed that two cases under Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered against all the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and Patiala respectively and further investigations were under progress.
