Mohali, 22 September(Wishav Warta): The Indian School of Business (ISB) kicked off its high profile 2-day ISB Leadership Summit (ILS) with an address by the Hon’ble Vice president of India M Venkaiah Naidu. In its 15th edition, ILS, ISB’s annual leadership conclave played host to around 40 eminent leaders from the fields of politics, business, technology, sports, academia and entertainment.
The other eminent people who were present on dais with Shri Naidu were Hon’ble Governor of Punjab Shri VP Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government of India, Shri Jayant Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Punjab, Shri BrahmMohindra, Rakesh Bharti Mittal,Executive Board ISB and Dean of ISB Rajendra Srivastava.
Dean Rajendra Srivastava welcomed the Vice President of India as the chief guest of the summit along with the other leaders and spoke about ISB and its leadership summit. He told that the theme of the summit is ‘Transforming Tomorrow: The Future Unraveled’. He applauded the organizing team of ILS 2017 for a brilliant line up of speakers and panels.
Venkaiah Naidu started his address in Hindi and then in his words “spoke from his heart”. He said “ISB is a very prestigious institution and I am very happy to be here and interact with the students. The theme of this summit is “Transforming tomorrow” which is very apt for the current situation of today. To transform tomorrow we must act today and for this we must learn from our ancient past and ancestors as history is a great guide for the decisions of today”. Citing several quotes from historical leaders, Vedas and quoting philosophers like Swami Vivekananda he said “We must take pride in our heritage, culture and traditions. We must not shun these aside in the face of western influences. Going with your theme to unravel the future of India we must work hard together to create an ideal country with ideal people”.
Naidu also spoke about the 5 P’s – People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership – and that we must tap into each other’s strengths and keep adding new chapters to create growth stories. He said that while India as a country has achieved lot and its economy is doing better than many countries we must look for areas where we have not done that well.
Finally he ended his power packed speech by telling the ISB students that “you must become job seekers and job makers, make dreams come true and scale new heights.” Quoting from the RigVeda he said, “Stand up, stay awake and keep learning and don’t stop till your dreams come true”. He got a standing ovation from the students and other participant of ILS.
The two day ISB leadership summit has a packed schedule for the day with eminent speakers Such as Dr. Manmohan Singh, Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Kiran Bedi, Lt Governor of Puducherry, Jayant Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government of India, Sanjeev Sanyal, Principal Economic Advisor to the Govt. of India, Aruna Rao, CTO, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Deepak Garg, CEO, Rivigo to name a few across various panels throughout the day. The Summit has over 500 participants.
