VB nabs PWD clerk red handed for taking bribe

Chandigarh: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed clerk Rajinderpal of PWD (B&R)) red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000/-.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Rajinderpal, clerk, posted in the office of Executive Engineer, PWD (B&R), Gidderbaha in Sri Mukatsar Sahib district was caught red handed on the complaint of Karmjeet Kaur of village Kauni, Gidderbaha in Sri Mukatsar District. Giving details he said the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above named clerk demanding bribe of Rs. 20,000 to release the funds of her husband after his death who was serving as Beldar in the department.

After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed with Rs. 20,000 as a first installment and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses.

 He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
