Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced formation of coordination and screening committees under supervision of the senior leaders of SAD, while bracing the party for the coming Municipal Corporation polls in the state.
In a statement released from the party headquarters, Badal said that different committees for four different Municipal Corporations have been constituted under the supervision of senior party leaders for making all the arrangements for the MC polls including the selection of candidates. He said that senior leaders heading such committees would suggest the names for the party candidates after coordinating with the party leaders and workers in their respective cities.
Giving details of the committees formed to assist in the selection of candidates, he said that the committee to oversee the election arrangements of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation will be headed by Bibi Jagir Kaur, S. Ajit Singh Kohar and S. Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal. The committee for Ludhiana Municipal Corporation polls will be supervised by S. Balwinder Singh Bhundar,Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, S. Sikander Singh Maluka and S. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon. To monitor the Amritsar Municipal Corporation’s poll related arrangements; a committee of S. Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, S. Bikram Singh Majithia, S. Gurzar Singh Ranike and S. Virsa Singh Valtoha has been formed. A committee headed by S. Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, S. Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, S. Surjit Singh Rakhra and Shri NK Sharma would manage the election work of the Patiala Municipal Corporation.
He appealed to the senior leaders, assigned with supervising the operations of MC polls in different parts of the state, to come up with the lists of party candidates after ensuring proper coordination between party workers and leaders. He said that the list of campaign committees for the MC polls would also be released shortly.
