Faridabad: Son of a former SSP and six others were held guilty in a robbery case by the District and Sessions Judge here on Monday. However, three accused were acquitted for lack of evidence.
Mohit Sharma is the son of Shiv Kumar Sharma, a former SSP of the Punjab cadre. He was held guilty in a robbery case registered in 2008.
As the judgment regarding the case that was registered under Sections 397 and 120- B of the IPC by the Punjab Police was pronounced on Monday, the quantum of sentence to the guilty is likely to be pronounced on July 6. Mohit, whose father was then posted in Punjab, along with nine others was booked for a robbery of diamond jewellery worth several crores of rupees at gunpoint. Though the case was registered in Punjab, it was transferred to Faridabad in 2011 to ensure transparency and check the unnecessary influence of the kin of the accused on the trial of the case, it is reported.
