New Delh: Solicitor general Ranjit Kumar, the country’s second highest law officer, resigned on Friday for “personal reasons”. The office of law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad received his resignation letter on Friday.
While Kumar confirmed that he had resigned, sources close to him said it was for “personal reasons”.He was appointed solicitor general in June 2014 after the Modi government came to power. His second term as solicitor general was renewed recently.
