Shocking cases coming up, Govt. should ensure justice to common man- Badal’s


Chandigarh, 17 August: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) patron Parkash Singh Badal and president Sukhbir Singh Badal today took asked the Congress government to ensure justice to the common man as well as political opponents, saying rule of law seemed to have vanished in the State. Both leaders held separate meetings with the public at the party office here. Numerous persons approached both leaders and related how they were not getting justice in the new Congress dispensation.

Akali councilors approached Parkash Singh Badal in the morning and told him how Congress goons were threatening and attacking councilors. Kharar leader Ranjit Singh Gill disclosed how one Congressman entered the residence of Kurali committee president Krishna Devi and took away councilor Ramakant at gun point. He said this was done when nine Akali councilors were holding a meeting. He said the councilor was not only beaten but threatened that he would be eliminated if he did not toe the line of the Congress party. Badal talked to DGP Suresh Arora on this issue and told him that it was unfortunate that such violence was being perpetrated against an elected official. He said this was being done solely to influence the election of the committee vice president which had been called for tomorrow. He asked the DGP to ensure safety of all councilors of Kurali besides stressing the need to take action against those who had threatened and beaten up councilor Ramakant.

Meanwhile, in another sensational case, a family approached SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and disclosed how it was not able to get justice in a murder case. The family members led by Gurpreet Kaur told the SAD president that her husband Gurvinder Singh Madaan had been murdered in the Tehsil complex in Jalalabad on March 21 after being violently attacked by one Tilak Raj and few others. The family even showed the CCTV coverage of the attack on the SAD president. The family members also disclosed that Jalalabad city president Darshan Vats, his son Anurag Vats and nephew Sapan Sukhija were behind the attack .Sukhbir Badal rung up the Fazilka SSP and asked him to ensure justice in the case. He told the SSP that the family was being pressurized to affect a compromise and were being threatened by Congress goons. Stating that no compromise could be affected in murder cases, he asked the SSP to arrest the accused immediately.
