Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today reviewed arrangements for the party’s rally here before workers proceed to gherao the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on the first day of the budget session tomorrow to protest against the betrayal of farmers by the Congress government which has denied them the promised complete loan waiver.
The SAD president visited the rally spot as sector 25 here and oversaw the arrangements in the company of senior leaders including former ministers Sikandar Singh Maluka and Dr Daljit Singh Cheema. He also reviewed arrangements made for parking of vehicles, sitting arrangements as well as those for providing drinking water and refreshments to the participants.
Sukhbir Badal said party workers were determined to reach the Vidhan Sabha to make the Congress government hear the voice of the farmers, who were in a state of despair and frustration at the government’s turnaround on the loan waiver promise. He said the SAD had resolved to take this agitation to its logical conclusion and force the government to implement a complete loan waiver scheme for farmers, farm labourers and dalits.
