Chandigarh: The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme of canals for irrigation in the Kharif Season from September 6 to September 13, 2018. The channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Bathinda Branch, Bist Doab Canal, Sidhwan Branch, Abohar Branch and Patiala Feeder respectively.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Irrigation department said that distributaries and Branches of Bhakra Main Line (BML) i. e. Direct distributaries of BML in Group ‘A’ being in the Channels of first preference will run to their indent. Balance water available will be utilised in Ghaggar Branch and Patiala Minor in group ‘B’ respectively.
The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozepur head works i.e. all the direct distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in group ‘A’ being in the first preference will run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilised in Abohar Branch Lower off-taking from Sirhind Feeder and its Distributaries/Minors in group ‘B’.
He also said that the channels off-taking from Upper Bari Doab Canal i.e. Main Branch Lower with its distributaries being in the first preference will run to their indent and balance water supplies available will be utilised in Lahore Branch, Sabhraon Branch, Kasur Branch Lower and with their distributaries respectively.
