Chandigarh: The Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Rana K.P. Singh has appealed to the NRI Punjabi community to come forward for contributing towards health and educational sectors of the State. He said that the Punjabi diaspora settled abroad should be forthcoming about providing financial assistance for infrastructural needs in schools, dispensaries/hospitals in their respective villages/hometowns.
Expressing these views here today while meeting the joint delegation from various European countries, the Speaker said that most of the NRI Punjabis spend money on the political activities whereas they ought to spend it on the social welfare causes. The delegation members on the occasion raised the issue of speedy redressal of the land disputes concerning NRI Punjabi community and establishing some kind of an infrastructure for the purpose. The Speaker assured the delegation that the State Government led by the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh is very serious about addressing these issues and very soon a policy would be brought for resolving the problems of the NRIs.
