Jalandhar: In a major decision to facilitate the students especially from the rural areas, the Punjab Government would also provide technical and Higher education in Punjabi language as an option in ITIs, Polytechnic colleges.
Talking to the media persons here during the second phase of mega job fair at Jalandhar, the Technical and higher Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that the decision to this effect was taken by the Punjab Government as it would not only help the students to sharpen their technical skill in easiest way but also establish our mother tongue as an employment generator language.
The Minister also said that an expert committee would prepare the whole syllabus in Punjabi Language, which would be implemented from the next academic session in the ITIs, Polytechnic colleges. The students would be able to choose their medium of study, out of from English and Punjabi.
He also made it clear that in higher education, Punjabi language would be implemented as an optional medium till PhD level.
Replying to a question about the demand of industry for skilled work force, the Minister has informed that the Punjab Cabinet has already approved the setting up of Multi skill Development University at Chamkaur sahib. The university would be first of its kind in the north region, aimed to prepare the youth for competition at the international level, he added.
He further said that the department has decided to prepare the syllabus for university as per the need of the industry at National and International level with the inclusion of industrial opinions.
Terming the Job fairs a great success the minister said that it was the first time that the state government has provided a common platform to the youth and various companies which is a favourable situation for all concerned parties. “If one hand the students got placement in companies, than the other hand the industrial units also got skilled work force” the Minister said.
He said that the nearly 4.75 lakh students have applied for their registration in Job fairs on the online portal lunched by the Punjab Government. Urging the students to grab the opportunities with both hands , the Minister said that more than 46,344 jobs would be offered during the job fairs across the state by the 1700 companies.
Earlier the Minister has reviewed the ongoing recruitment process on the last day of mega job fair at CT institute.
