Chandigarh: The Punjab State Information Commission has disposed off 312 cases during December , 2017.
Disclosing this here today, the Chief Information Commissioner, Punjab, Mr. S.S. Channy said that in December , 2017, a total of 2737 cases were under consideration before the various benches of the commission in December , 2017 .
He further said that in order to effectively implement the Right To Information Act-2005, a total of Rs. 28000 have been given to the petitioners as compensation in 11 different cases during December, 2017 and in another two cases 10000/- each had been imposed as penalty on Public information officers.
The amount awarded as compensation varied from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 5000.
He further said that in December, 2017 total 670 new cases had been registered with Commission.
