Chandigarh: The Punjab Government instructed all Government and private sectors to notify every vacant vacancy with Department of Employment Generation and Training, Punjab.
Disclosing this, an official spokesperson of the Government said that in order to give a boost to employment opportunities, each and every vacancy to be notified with employment exchanges. He said that according to ‘Compulsory Notification of Vacancies Act 1959’, it was made mandatory for all Government sector establishments & every establishment in private sector or every establishment pertaining to any class or category of establishments in private sector, shall before filling up any vacancy in any employment in that establishment, notify that vacancy to such employment exchanges as may be prescribed (CNV Act 1959). He said that this practice is not followed religiously and most of vacancies are not notified with employment exchanges.
He further said that as per ‘Supreme Court Judgment of dated 1996’ which also made it compulsory for every vacancy to be simultaneously advertise in news papers as well notification to Employment Exchanges. But most of the employers started advertising in news papers and in print media, and stopped notifying with employment exchanges. Therefore, State Government has instructed all government and private sectors to share information/advertisements of all jobs/vacancies in department/organizations (contractual/outsourcing/regular) with Joint Director, Office of Director Employment Generation & Training at S.C.O. No. 47/1, Sector-17 E, Chandigarh.
