Punjab CM to dedicate 2nd phase of Jang-e-Azadi memorial tomorrow

Jalandhar: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would dedicate to the nation, the second phase of the iconic Jang-e-Azadi memorial here tomorrow (‪March 6) here at an impressive function.

In the function, which would be presided over by the Chief Minister a large number of other dignitaries including Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, MPs and several other leaders were expected to participate. The Chief Minister would also dedicate new galleries in this prestigious project that would through light on various facets of the Indian freedom movement. The project was all the more important as it connects the younger generations with the glorious past.

The project, spread across 25 acres of land, was originally sanctioned in July 2012. The memorial was a unique piece of art which has a minaret, a seminar hall, an auditorium, a movie hall, a cafeteria, a library, an Open Air theatre for laser show and an amphitheatre. The Jang-e-Azadi foundation headed by Managing Editor of the Ajit group of Newspapers Dr. Barjinder Singh Hamdard along with the officers of the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma have been involved in meticulous planning for making this event a huge success.

Meanwhile, the Officers on Special Duty to the Chief Minister Captain Sandeep Sandhu and Gurpreet Singh Sonu Dhesi today reviewed the arrangements for this event. The OSDs had detailed parleys with the Managing Editor of Jang-E-Azadi foundation Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard and officers of the district administration regarding the function. They also gave the necessary directions to the officers for smooth execution of the event.
