Chandigarh: The voting for the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) elections has been started at the Panjab University here on Thursday, Varsity is all set to witness a four-cornered contest between Students For Society (SFS), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and Student Organization of India (SOI)
15,281 students eligible to cast vote in the PUCSC elections will elect four office-bearers — president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary — of the campus students’ council on Thursday.
There are 21 candidates in the fray this year. Last year, the number of contestants was 27. There are four women candidates, among whom only one is in the race for the post of president. Two women candidates are vying for the post of vice-president. Last year, there were nine women candidates. This year, there are six presidential candidates, down from nine last year.
This year, 162 polling booths have been set up across all departments in the north and south campuses.
