Jalandhar(Wishav Warta): Jalandhar counter intelligence team led by AIG HPS Khakh strikes at two places Dharmkot in Moga district and Phagwara in Kapurthala district collaboration with local police. They have planned their two operations one with Moga police and another one with Kapurthala police today in which four drug smugglers along with 10 Quintal of poppy husk and half kg of opium has been arrested, the drug was hiding inside a truck under the big bags of cattle feed to avoid checking.
AIG HPS Khakh said in first operation, information received by Counter Intelligence team Jalandhar that a truck number PB-32K-8277 has started from Balachaur towards Dharmkot area via Phagwara and if proper search operation will be conducted on Phagwara-Nakodar road then it can be apprehended as its fully loaded with poppy husk. Information immediately shared with Kapurthala police and joint teams of Counter Intelligence Jalandhar and CIA Phagwara immediately swung into action and intercepted above truck at a lonely place near Manawali and two persons namely Ashwani Kumar s/o Sankar Dass r/o Rollu colony, ward no 02, Balachaur and Parmjit @sonu s/o Pars Ram r/o Jitpur, PS Balachaur have been arrested by police along with 9 Quintal of poppy husk. During search of the truck 45 bags of poppy husk(20Kg each) have been recovered and half kg of opium also recovered from the personal search of one of the accused. During preliminary interrogation, these accused confessed that they are 6 members gang, three (arrested persons) belongs to Balachaur and other three belongs to Dharmkot. They have brought this consignment from “Mandsaur” in MP state at very reasonable price i.e Rs. 20,000 per bag and further they sell it in Punjab at Rs. 60,000-1,00,000 lac per bag, so Rs 40,000-80,000 profit straight way on each bag and in this way they earn a huge profit in a single deal. Their part in this deal is to bring consignment from MP because truck belongs to them and other party at Dharmkot arranges clients, which take this drug at very high prices. After their interrogation, it comes to notice that other module is at Dharmkot, so second operation was planned with Moga police and joint teams of PS. Mehna and Counter Intelligence Jalandhar had successfully arrested two main smugglers Ajaib Singh s/o Anoop Singh r/o Baakarwala, PS Dharmkot Moga and Jasveer Singh @Jassa s/o Balkar Singh r/o Kot Mohd.khan, PS Dharmkot, Distt Moga from PS. Mehna and PS. Dharamkot area along with one Quintal of poppy husk which they were hiding at one lonely place in PS. Mehna and PS. Dharamkot area. Jasveer singh@ Jassa was proclaimed offender under NDPS Act in Moga district.
He said teams of Counter Intelligence wing of Jalandhar along with teams of district Kapurthala and district Moga busted an interstate drug smuggling racket, which was operational in both Doaba and Malwa area. It is worth mentioning here that because of the free flow of drug being smuggled from MP state, matter must be brought before the higher authorities through proper channel so that this illegal trade should be stopped immediately. Police parties are dispatched to arrest remaining two accused Manjinder singh @Billa s/o Amrik Singh r/o vill Bakkarwala PS. Dharmkot, Moga and Harbhajan Singh @Sabhi@Giani s/o Pritam Singh r/o vill Mehmudpur Gadrian, PS Balachaur, SBS Nagar and to probe their further linkage towards other drug smugglers and peddlers so that this nexus of drug smuggling can be broken down completely.
