Chandigarh, 9 October(Wishav Warta): In a bid to impart vocational training to the farmers besides offering specialized training module on the various aspects of dairy development to the youth, the Punjab Dairy Development Board (PDDB) would organize a Dairy Entrepreneurship Training programme from October 23 at various Dairy Training and Extension Centres in the state.
Divulging the details, Director PDDB Inderjit Singh said that a detailed training programme has been chalked out on different topics ranging from breed improvement, value addition of milk, Nutrition/Feeding Management, care and maintenance of milch animals etc. Eminent experts in the field of dairying besides the faculty of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana and National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal would share their experience with the dairy farmers and young aspirants desirous of opting dairy as profession. He said that practical training would be impart at various progressive dairy farms besides free literature would be distributed amongst the farmers and young trainers to enable them to have adequate knowledge about the emerging trends in dairying and milk processing.
Meanwhile, the PDDB Director also informed that next batch of six week Dairy Entrepreneurship Training will start at Dairy Training and Extension Centre, Bija (Ludhiana), Chatamli (Ropar), Gill (Moga), Abul Khurana (Sri Muktsar Sahib), Sardulgarh (Mansa), Phagwara (Kapurthala) and Verka (Amritsar).
He further said that counseling would be done at above Training Centres on October 13, 2017 at 10.00 a.m. Candidates who are of age groups of 18-45 years & minimum 10th pass and have dairy farm of at least 5 milch animals can undertake this training. Pertinently, regular income is required for the people associated with farming occupation to cater their needs on daily basis. Present crop pattern yields income after 4-6 months, resultantly the farmers often takes loans from banks and mortgagors to fulfill their daily economic and social needs. Moreover, repayment of loan becomes a herculean task and puts hefty burden on farmers. Rearing of dairy animals being a lucrative occupation, in which daily or income after ten days is assured, without any problem of direct marketing of milk. Therefore, the farmers should adopt dairy profession on the scientific lines, as it is becoming very popular like other allied farming occupations. Henceforth, scientific training in the dairying is the need of the hour.
